It all starts in conversation with others, talking about
the way of life, economy and our state of affairs
in general.
Then something like global warming, or those record breaking
profit statements from the petroleum companies throws red flags in your
conscience. Soon, talk of bio-diesel or using grease for fuel or other
alternative fuel sets it's hook in your imagination during the conversation.
If you become serious about making a conscious change to help the environment
you then say: "I sure wish I could do something - I really need to do something about this,
I can do something and I will
do something".
Many folks purchase a Diesel already converted to run straight
vegetable oil (SVO). You can find cars and pickup trucks and motorhomes
already converted for WVO for sale in most larger cities across the states.
Dulane and I became very interested in alternative fuels in 2003.
Back in '03 all this was just happening and Dulane and I became one of the
pioneers experimenting with biodiesel and fryer oil (waste vegetable oil - WVO),
After deciding to Do IT, our process took a good 18 months to evolve. By
November 2004 we were driving our first diesel car using WVO. (Our
Story)
Make a difference to the environment and help
your pocket book in the long run. Not a bad choice - it does take
persistence, research, actions, more persistence. Folks on a small budget
like me start by purchasing a relatively cheap old Mercedes Benz or VW. My
240D cost $700. - and we instantly became participating environmental activists
replacing petroleum with used waste vegetable oil for fuel.
There are Lots of Options and Alternatives you have besides
getting stuck in the Petroleum user loop. It may be using ethanol, or
going to an electric car or perhaps a hybrid or Flex fuel vehicle using a
combination of propulsion methods. This site concentrates on waste fryer
oil (WVO) used as an Alternative Fuel source for a diesel vehicle.
After you are hooked on the idea of alternative
fuel - if the interest is strong enough, your
research begins. The Internet is everyone's #1 source for researching and
finding "Everything".
Finding a local person you can see, and talk with can be a big positive
invluence in
making something actually happen, so get on the Internet and find someone near
you to go and take them to lunch - but let them drive in their grease 4 fuel car.
Here is a quick Driving a Grease Car Scenerio.
How to start using alternative fuels:
If you do decide you would like to become a Grease4Fuel pioneer
I would highly recommend you make a Project Plan. Do a little
research so you develop a good understanding about it all, then write up your Grease4Fuel Project Plan See links above to
help you make a Plan of Action
