**** Roy's '87 Mercedes Benz SDL on WVO

My latest Project is running a FryBrid 21 gallon trunk tank for WVO.  This puppy really heats up the grease!!

This SDL has the 300 Turbo, this is the "Brick" engine with the aluminum head. (Later Mercedes did have trouble with the aluminum heads on the 350 engines, but Not the 300's.)
I took my first ride in this car on 8/10/05 and have driven as much as possible on WVO since then.  This car heats up the grease and switches tanks within 3 miles. At the  average 12,000 mile year I prolly only drove 5% of those miles on biodiesel and the rest on WVO.  I have reached my ROI on this GreaseCar and I'm driving for mere pennies.

Dig further if you would like to learn more about this ole SDL Mercedes w/ Grease4Fuel system being used

My quest originally was to learn about BioDiesel.  My significant other "Dulane", was the catalyst behind my initial interest.  Still, I was converted, and was bound and determined to use bio diesel, for many reasons.   Primarily for a better environment and equally important was to not support the Oil greedy companies of the day. As we discovered just how expensive the bio-diesel fuel was and how few locations there are to find the excitement of bio-diesel waned. I was however, caught up in the quest for Alternate Fuel sources right away.  But, I was discouraged at the cost to purchase bio-diesel.

Next we looked into making our our own bio-diesel fuel. This "cook it yourself" bio-diesel is a very viable option to purchasing, but the process was a little more involved and complicated than we wanted to try on our own. A coop doing this would be much preferred. I thought, why not just go the whole way and do the direct WVO system!   This would bypass the chemical process. Seemed simple to me, no chemicals, no fuss, no muss.  (I later discovered that with WVO you do have to fuss around with the oil gathering, filtering, pouring, and storing.  But, it wasn't complex, and no chemicals so even "I" could do it.)

Finding "local" information about WVO conversions at the time was really hard. We couldn't find anybody else locally doing this WVO stuff. Finding other sites on the web showed email groups here and there, but we needed a support group of some kind. So, I set up this local Co-op to find and help others of like mind called Grease2Go.  The Co-op still has 53 members, but they are all but 4 or 5 non-active.  I am pretty sure Grease2Go - will be gone soon.  We do need a forum or coop and if you are inclined to do so - please set one up and let us know!

It is much more fun to find a few folks to collaborate on a fuel/filter setup.

I'll tell you what, there is no finer feeling than enjoying the fruits of your own labors.  I brew beer, and - to me - my beer always tastes better than beer I have to buy, I built my house and - to me - it feels better.  As for Making Grease 4 Fuel, well, I absolutely love taking a road trip and flipping the Grease4Fuel switch to Drive on near-free fuel.
