This particular 300 SDL Benz is the stretch model. It has more space and room inside than anything else. If you do any ride share, your riders will absolutely love this car. If you have family to cart around they will be in the lap of luxury. |

I’ve done lots of little fixes here and there and replaced
all rubber fuel lines to accept Biodiesel. The best thing I did was to
add the
finest waste vegetable oil (WVO), conversion kit from FryBrid
systems (http://www.frybrid.com/300sdl.htm),
right here in Seattle. The Frybrid kit cost $1800 - un-installed kit form.
Installed and running it is priceless, but seriously, it would cost around
$3,000 to buy the kit and pay to have it installed. In other cars I have run a home made grease conversion and in another was one from Greasecar.com. They both worked fine. However, this Frybrid system is the best there is at this time. |

The '87 SDL has the 6 cylinder 300 Turbo, "The Brick" engine.
This 300SDL Turbo Diesel has an amazingly powerful, economical and smooth-running engine w/ Automatic Transmission. Together they are EXTREMELY reliable and robust. Excellent fuel mileage on diesel, biodiesel or grease. It gets 25-28mpg in the city and up to 30 on the Freeway. It is said there is a 3-5% drop in performance on biodiesel. I don't notice it, but that is what I have read. I think on WVO the mileage is a little less than diesel. It is difficult to tell for sure. I know I can go from Bothell to Eugene on a tank of WVO. The motor is nicely packaged in the highly sought after early 126-chassis. Quick and smooth - starts instantly every time ! An absolutely BEAUTIFUL vehicle - with TREMENDOUS power. |

![]() 197,788 miles |
For the knowledgeable MB enthusiast, this vehicle is extremely long lasting
and, well "trustworthy". Very
dependable. This model has a driver side air bag and ABS
braking system for safety & security ! The odometer reads 197,788 miles. For a 20 year old car, this is actually below average. For a Mercedes diesel it is "below average" and is not allot of miles. A little research will tell you the legendary mileage these cars get on a regular basis. Good diesel engines get much superior mileage than gas vehicles to start with, add the great German engineering and you have a half million mile vehicle. The car starts easily and runs great in all weather. Turn on the WVO kit, turn on the CRUISE Control and let the miles fry by. |

The entire interior is in great shape. Totally upholstered with a variety of
MB fabrics, leather, and beautiful real wood. Very nice gray Leather seats in
extraordinary condition. All seat adjustments work
properly. The dash does have one crack that could be patched or covered and
another small one on the edge. The original carpets are in tact and are covered with thick plush Mercedes driving mats in front and rear. Both driver/passenger vanity mirrors and lights. 2 Front directional overhead lights. 2 vanity lights in rear seat area. |

The transmission is smooth-shifting and
accepts the engine's torque very well. The car drives on the expressway
EFFORTLESSLY. This engine and body match up to provide the driver with the
ultimate in turbo diesel driving luxury. There's NEVER been a luxury diesel like the '87 300SDL Turbo - extremely rare in this condition and highly sought after, especially for running biodiesel and WVO kits! The Climate controls are awesome. Keeps you at just the right temperature. Heats quickly, cools nicely. The cooler has RJ45 coolant which may be running low. It cools fantastic up to about 90 degrees. When it is that hot the cooling isn't so cool, and I suspect it needs refilled. |

Both driver and passenger doors have 2 settings for seating position and the seats are electrically move in about 8 ways. Even the headrests are elec! Both doors have climate control venting in the door panels, and both have door compartments for storage. These are real doors, you feel them shut like a good heavy door, yet they are hung so they swing open/closed with ease. Fully padded interior - no metal or plastic. Plush Puppy it is.

The
front has a nice chrome grille with those cute headlight wipers. They
even have wiper washers on them ! One of my favorite things on the Mercedes is the built in Fog lamps. The large disk chrome wheels look just great and I just purchased 2 new Federal tires from Les Schwab to match the rear. One of the chrome rims has weathered, but the rest look just great. |

I
have a set of Studded M&S tires mounted on Mercedes wheels that you will
Love for winter driving. This car is lousy on the snow with out the
studded tires. I'm letting these go with the car.The paint and chrome on the outside are in good condition - shows typical scuffs & marks resulting in 20 years of weather & driving. NO Dents or Gouges. Paint spots on sides of the top is Oxidizing and a spot on the trunk also oxidizing. Becker AM/FM/Cass - Radio works great, but the cassette player is not working and I never looking into fixing it. One radio button is missing and is still somewhere in the car ;) The electric antenna stays up, does not go down. |

The Frybrid grease kit controls are nicely mounted where the old ashtray used to be. There is a row of lights. Bottom red indicates the system has been activated but is not hot enough to run. When the car heats up to the proper temp, it automatically switches the grease tank on and shows the green light. The yellow light is activated when you press the red button to "purge" the fuel system and when purging is finished it automatically turns the yellow light off and the red light is now on showing the system active but not running. Includes a grease tank fuel gauge. Kept the power plug in a panel just below radio.

To
the left & right is a photo looking down through the Sun roof! Gotta
Luv the sun roof. It has 2 positions; slides opens fully or the rear
part pops up to draft/vent the car.
Huge sunroof, nicely padded inside. It is a luxury car after all.
Interior is in excellent - better than average condition from head to toe. |

The rear has 2 headrests, a center arm rest, the rear deck/dash has tons of room. In the deck on one side is a compartment for the original first aid kit and another compartment for nick/naks. Power plugs in "un-used" ashtrays on both doors, elec window controls and center air venting. Has rear window brake light. Previous owner had it set up for his cell phone antenna.

Working under the hood is real easy. It has 2 open positions, shown is the low open, it opens fully for easy maintenance. Regular maintenance is easy on these cars. Air filters, fuel, and oil filters, getting to the fuses, or belts. A Do it Yourselfer will love this car.

| These Mercedes Diesels are getting harder to find as time goes on. Diesel fuel costs less now than gas. Biodiesel is about the same cost as gasoline, but I am betting before long it will also be much less. The largest BioDiesel plant company in the country is from Seattle and they are growing by leaps and bounds. On a real positive note, if you make your own Bio-diesel you’ll drive this for about 45Cents a gallon! I have lots of info on where to go to learn how. Yes, you can make your own fuel. You can even gather waste veggie oil from local establishments getting your main ingredient for free. In addition to the biodiesel or regular diesel you use, this car will run on straight plain old veggie oil. When you are driving it on your own filtered waste veggie oil from the neighborhood deep fry joint, you’ll be paying mere cents a gallon. (sorta all depends on your setup – there is minimal initial cost to work down, but the longer you drive on the veggie oil the cheaper it all gets.) The more you drive the more savings you will incur. by NOT buying from the petroleum companies. I took my first ride in this car on 8/10/05 and have driven as much as possible on WVO since then. This car heats up the grease and switches tanks within 3-5 miles. I prolly only drove 5% of those miles on biodiesel and the rest on WVO. I have reached my ROI on this GreaseCar and I'm driving for mere pennies. "Praise the Lard" | |||||
